The Coronas
Electric Ballroom, Camden
London,
20th October 2023
My second time catching the lads in London, having seen them in Shepards Bush this time last year. The atmosphere was electric in the ballroom! My first visit to Electric Ballroom in Camden, London and I must say I am impressed I’d love to return here for a gig in future! The vibe inside was really unique. In comparison to Irish venues its like if you took the best parts of both Whelans and The Academy and put them together.
The setlist was a mostly unchanged from the bigger summer shows in Ireland. Except for the addiction of My Fault. True Love Waits seems to have been giving a rest which I hope can return for Wexford this week!
To top of we had the fantastic True Tides opening up the show. The place was packed early to make sure the lads got a warm welcome. They played a great set. I was suprised that they didn’t play All We Got Is War and The Answer, as they are big songs for them, but they have so many great songs and its hard to squeeze everything into a support set. Really excited to see them again in Dublin next month (still a few tickets available, get em quick, click here).
The London crowd has really grown on me. With the lads having lived in London it can almost feel like a sort of homecoming. Something which they champion while belting out songs from their discography. The set had a great mix of coronas songs from each album, although ‘Tony was an ex con‘ only had 1 song feature from that album ‘Someone Else’s Hands’, would love to see more of this album featured for the rest of the year.
Onto Wexford this week, I am really looking forward to the 2 shows coming this week, as I had a great time in the Spiegeltent 2 years ago!
